Basketball Leagues Story

RameyBasektball Fall League Notes 9/15/18

This weekend at the RameyBasketball Fall League, I had the chance to reacquaint myself with 2019 G Joseph Jones. When I first saw Joseph as a freshman at  Maplewood-Richmond Heights High School in St. Louis, it was evident that he would sprout up to be a special talent. However, at the conclusion of his freshmen season, Jones moved to Atlanta where he would spend his next two seasons building his resume at Northview HS in Johns Creek, Georgia. I was also able to see him briefly on the summer circuit. This fall, Jones returned to St. Louis  and will play at Webster Groves High School. I was fortunate enough to catch him in action at the RameyBasketball Fall League Saturday.

During Fall League play, it was clear that Joe had spent his time away honing his basketball skill set. Jones is an explosive point guard that can shift gears with the ball in the blink of an eye. Jones has great court vision and his high-level decision making often led to easy buckets for him and his teammates. Jones shot the ball with range but showed that he also has a nifty mid range game tucked away in his tool belt. In addition to these weapons, defenders also quickly learned that it was not wise to guard Jones too closely. Halfway through the game, I lost track of his victim count as he wreaked havoc on defenders attempting to apply one-on-one pressure. Joseph returns as a premier area guard and his impact will be immediately felt at Webster Groves.
